The Magic Spell for Saving Your Data
Data redundancy and replication
It's nearly 3 a.m. Montu Mia bolts upright in bed, drenched in sweat. What a horrifying nightmare! A while back, he'd sharded his BiralTube database and spread it across data centers all over the world. In his dream, one of those data centers had been completely swallowed by a tidal wave! The thousands of cute cat videos on that server, the user data, the likes, the comments, all of it lost to a watery grave!

Once he woke up he realized it was all a dream, but his heart wouldn't stop pounding. What if something like that really happened? Sharding had boosted performance, sure, but if one server goes down, all of that server's data just vanishes into thin air! He couldn't leave this unsolved. Montu spent the whole night unable to shut his eyes for worry.
Come morning, he sprinted to Boltu's house. He jabbed the doorbell and Boltu opened up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. In one breath, Montu poured out his nightmare.
Hearing it all, Boltu chuckled in his usual way. "Oh, you doofus, what's there to panic about? At the stage of system design you're at, this nightmare about losing data is totally normal. And there's a fix for it. Come inside, grab a coffee, and I'll teach you the magic spell for saving your data."
